“Let's Get Physical and Exercise our minds”….and bodies!

Welcome to the Bugg PE webpage!

I am Ms. Hook and this is my first year at Bugg. I'm very excited about our theme for the school year as it is a perfect representation of multiple intelligences and how development of different abilities can positively influence learning in other abilities. For example physical activity has been linked to improved academic performance in school. In physical education we will take advantage of every minute of our 45 minute weekly class by first learning and practicing rules, routines and expectations that will enable our classes to run smoothly. Throughout the year we will follow the wcpss standard course of study for physical education. We will practice manipulative, nonmanipulative and locomotor skills. We will also learn and practice strategies to improve our health related fitness. A healthy body truly is a healthy mind! I look forward to a great year of learning in physical education!

“WAlK”TOBER kicks off on OCT. 3 rd with “National Walk To School Day”

Parents and Guardians please walk with your children to school to reinforce the many benefits of walking; good for the body, brain and environment! Even if you typically drive your child to school, it would be great to park the car ½-1 mile away from school and walk the rest with your child!

“WALK AND ROLL” TO SCHOOL AND AT RECESS!

On October 1 st , all children at Bugg have the opportunity to increase their physical activity by choosing to walk to and from school and during recess. Every mile they accumulate in walking or rolling (wheelchair, or bikers) to school and during recess is tallied on their walking charts throughout the month. Our 150m track (~10.75 laps = mile) is the place to walk during recess to earn mileage. NCDOT is sponsoring the competition for all North Carolina Schools to walk the most miles to receive prizes. At Bugg the highest individual walker will be awarded a pedometer for their great effort!
Walk to Cure Diabetes: October 27

Culminate a great month of healthy living habits by walking with your family in the walk to cure diabetes. Money raised by participants will directly support research for finding a cure. Juvenile diabetes has dramatically increased in recent years with the rise in overweight and obese children. Walking and promoting healthy lifestyles with your children can help prevent this disease. Make October your month to start taking to steps toward a healthy lifestyle!
