Focused Fifth Graders

The fifth grade year at Bugg Elementary is fun and exciting. The fifth graders are responsible for the school’s safety patrol. A police officer comes once a week to the school to teach them D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), and at the end of the program they even have a graduation ceremony. The student will also participate in Extended Study every Wednesday afternoon. Extended Study is a time for all of the Bugg Multiple Intelligence Specialists to creatively enhance the curriculum in a variety of ways. The students will also create and perform several informances (small performances for family and peers). The end of the year tends to be the most exciting part of the fifth grade experience. In spite of the End of Grade Tests, this part of the year is exciting due to their many graduation events. The students will have a graduation breakfast and yearbook signing, a cook out and picnic, and the official Fifth Grade Graduation Ceremony.
